I enjoyed a nice, relaxing weekend, featuring two very pleasant and long hikes.  It looks as though the boss will be fairly busy today, and the overly-chatty secretary is out for the entire week, so perhaps I can make some more progress on my work to-dos.  The new Secretary of the Interior, another of Trump’s bizarro world cabinet members, had said that he would announce his decision on the newest national monument, Bear’s Ear, which is in Utah, over the weekend, but that didn’t happen, so it’s still looming.  Trump is threatening to revoke national monument status for a number of locations in the country, as part of his agenda to destroy all that is good in America, and I am not happy about it.

  1. It seems odd to revoke national monument status – you’d have thought they would be a source of national pride. What’s the thinking behind that (assuming there is some…)?

    • I have no idea what the thinking is. There are some people in the Utah government who want to use the land for mining and oil drilling, but they are in the minority. Really, it seems as if the republicans’ primary objective at the moment is to undue any actions taken by Barack Obama.
