I listened to some of the Comey hearings at work yesterday. He was a very credible witness, and his testimony was damning. The Republican party leadership isn’t even bothering to try to spin it to say that Trump wasn’t guilty of obstruction of justice. Instead they’re saying that it’s not his fault because he didn’t know better. Comey made an impassioned statement, something along the lines of “the real issue here isn’t party politics, it’s about an enemy nation trying to destroy our democratic process…and they will do it again,” which went largely ignored. So my takeaway from yesterday is that the Republicans care more about lining their own pockets and egos than the good of the country and they will gladly sell their souls to Russia for a little short-term personal gain. It’s a tough time to be a thinking American.
On a completely mundane level, I finished my ten-day hormonal balancing diet! I’m glad it’s done but do feel much better for having done it, and my clothes are clearly fitting more loosely. My scale says that I lost seven pounds in ten days, which is absolutely phenomenal for me. Today I start a three-day diet to treat inflammation, and then it will be back to a more normal diet.
Today is bossless and meetingless, and our overly chatty secretary will be out, as well, so I’m anticipating a low-key, pleasant and productive day. Onward!
