5/9/17 ftf, wren

Yesterday’s Momentous Accomplishment was that I paid off the mortgage on our house, so we now own it free and clear.  I have been saving away and was able to pay off about three years of mortgage payments in one day.  Now I have to get busy replenishing my savings!

As expected, the day was hectic with lots of last-minute grant proposal things, and the boss’s secretary was out, too.  The boss has really put this off until the very last possible moment, which means it won’t be submitted until today.  On top of that, the power went out for about an hour, rendering us all helpless.  It was amusing the way everyone was darting into my office in a panic asking, “What do we do?!”

This morning will no doubt include more last minute grant details.  The plan is to have everything ready by 10:00 am.  Of course, the original plan was to having everything ready a week ago!  Anything beyond getting the grant in is gravy.
