4/6/17 ftf, wren

Oy, yesterday was a hectic one, entirely because of the boss.  He is supposed to be in meetings all of every Wednesday morning, but he unexpectedly skipped his meetings and landed bright and early in the office in full tornado mode.  He’s working on a grant proposal, so he wants me to drop everything else and join him in hyperdrive anxiety, even though my part of the proposal is not due for a month.  It definitely drove my stress level up yesterday, and I suppose he will be like this for the rest of the week.

This afternoon, I will attend a human resources quarterly update meeting.  These can be boring, but this one will be interesting because the university’s lobbyist will report on the goings-on at the state legislature.  It’s a chance to hear the real scoop on the crazy right-wing Mormons who run our state.  Last year, they denied the university’s request for cost of living increases because they were mad about a basketball game (!), and in years past they withheld funding until the school president lifted his no guns on campus rule.  Madness!

Speaking of madness, it’s an almost daily heartbreak in the US as the republicans stampede ahead with their agenda to undo every good thing that President Obama accomplished.  It’s painful and a little terrifying.

Well, on to the day, with the hopes that I can make some headway on taming my giant to do list.

  1. I can’t imagine how awful it must be to live somewhere where people like that get to make important decisions over everyone else’s lives. You have my sympathy!
