Just out of curiosity, do all the commercial trucks in Italy and the UK make loud beep-beep-beep sounds when they back up?  They do in the US, and right now I can hear one that is part of some construction that’s occurring several blocks away.

Yesterday went well.  It feels good to have the distraction of work, especially since the boss is out.  He still managed to staff by phone, which is something he does when he’s in situations where he’s waiting for something, such as an airplane flight, but he left me out of it, thank goodness.

A group of co-workers are all interested in participating in anti-Trump efforts, and we are all supporting each other during this scary time.  Aside from the usual protests, we’ve also participated in an effort to request a complete inquiry into all of Trump’s potential conflicts of interest, as well as an effort to request a recount and forensic audit of the election results in three key states, as there is some evidence indicating that those results have been hacked.  I strongly disagree with president Obama on this – he is encouraging Hillary not to contest the election results, as his primary interest is the smooth transition of power.  In addition, there’s an effort under way in the electoral college to get the electors to vote against the will of the people in their states, which means they would cast their votes for someone other than you-know-who.  The someone else may well be one of the republicans who lost in the primaries, but almost anyone else seems better than Trump. All paws are crossed that some or all of these efforts will be successful in keeping him from ever being inaugurated.

Tomorrow and Friday are the Thanksgiving holidays in the US, and I’m planning on surprising the staff by telling them that they can leave work at noon, with pay.  That means a short day for me, too, so I’ll need to focus in order to make the most of my time in the office.

  1. Yes, we get the reversing beeping sound here, too!

Very interesting about the backlash. Seeing reflections of Brexit in the close result that more sensible heads want to challenge!

  2. How they will be going to love you for the half day off!!!

  3. Interesting to read about the attempts to stop Trump being inaugurated. I hope something comes of it!
