I’m back after a long holiday weekend.  It’s been a fairly relaxing three days, with perfect autumn weather. J actually had two days off, too.  Our town was flooded with holiday weekenders with their RVs and boats, and I’m glad that they’re gone now.

Our major benefactors have decided that they don’t want to be bothered with sitting on a foundation board anymore, so they’ve turned the management of the board over to a rotating cast of university students, which seems rather odd to me.  The students have asked for reams of reporting in order to decide if they’ll give us more funding, with a due date this week, so this could take up a lot of my time.

I had the bright idea of dedicating a book shelf in our library at work to a book recycling program.  I’m thinking that employees can leave books that they’ve read and pick up new ones.  It seems like a good idea to me, and now I just have to follow through!

My mom had her final (perhaps) chemo treatment this week, so she’s also going to meet with the doctor who will give her a report on her progress and his suggestions for the next step.  My brother is choosing to be at his new second home and so won’t be accompanying her on the visit.  I’m worried and frustrated that no one will be present to hear what the doc has to say and ask questions – not that my worry and frustration does any good.

  1. Oof on the worry over your mum – that’s really tough! Your brother isn’t as caring as you, obviously! I love the idea of the bookshelf – do let us know how that goes. And totally with you on the calm after the people leave – Edinburgh is very calm again after the festival month! 🙂
