Happy Halloween!

I’ve been sick in bed for the past two days and would be staying in bed again today if there weren’t meetings that I must attend at work.  My main goal is to take it as easy as possible and get through the day.

I got my wish yesterday and was able to focus and accomplish at work.  I’m hoping for another day like that today.  There’s so much to get done over the next couple of weeks so that I can leave on my vacation feeling like things are in order.  And oh joy, someone scheduled a late-in-the-day meeting for me today.

Moosie Tuesday 28 October

What a lovely weekend! Had some time with B, some time outside, a great load of music time (Sunday group was particularly fabulous this week) and yesterday I got the final stages of my name-change done, which involved four minutes with a solicitor! It’s beginning to feel more official, although the change was officially dated in September it won’t feel real until I get the sealed deed back from the court. Kinda cool.

I’m taking tomorrow off as I have some leave to use and I’m playing at a different folk night tomorrow evening, so just today to get through. I have my appraisal which means an hour one to one with my boss, as if that wasn’t bad enough, I am very upset with him about so many things but need to focus on getting through it focusing on performance and without crying!

Ftf:
* foot
* write
* prep
* swim
* breakfast
* got a tonne of music to listen to

Work:
* invoices
* appraisal (no crying!)
* A’s stuff
* take docs to post office

Tonight:
* therapy (crying is OK!)
* write-up
* I have tonight to myself and don’t need to be in bed at any particular time so take whatever time I need after therapy, it would be a good chance to get some music done too.

So happy for SL enjoying her time in Burgundy.  🙂

J ended up having both Saturday and Sunday off from work (a rare occurrence), so my weekend wasn’t as productive as it might have been, but it was very nice and relaxing.  There’s lots to do this week, and I’m aiming to complete at least four things on my work to-do list today.

Yesterday was exactly the kind of day I needed to recover from my Wednesday of Discouragement.  The boss was away all day long, and I was able to make good progress on my presentation for the department director.  I also was able to get my hair cut fixed without too much hassle or wait, and then J and I had a very nice anniversary celebration.  Today will likely not be as calm, but at least I’ve made good headway with a few things.

SL’s FTF, Friday 24th October

Friday at last! Survived the mega meeting yesterday, my bits went ok, and the mood was generally positive.

Today I’ll be winding down ahead of my week off, and seeing Moose for Byron this evening, yay! Feeling pretty cheerful.

  • breakfast
  • French
  • ironing
  • go through emails from yesterday
  • talk to P
  • submit VAT return
  • other stuff
  • leave 5.30
  • Byron with Moose yay!
  • call phone co. about roaming – would be nice if phone worked in Burgundy!

Yesterday I was summoned to the department head’s office to report on our Center’s financial state.  I’ve been avoiding the department head ever since she put the kibosh on my raise with no explanation.  Anyway, the meeting is scheduled for the last day of the month, but now I have another big task, which is to put together all the necessary reports.

I did not leave the retirement seminar feeling any better about our financial situation.  In fact, it raised my anxiety level.  The only hope I have of having enough money to retire is if the property value on my mom’s house remains high and I inherit half of it eventually.  I tried to engage J in a discussion about retirement and learned mainly that he has been anticipating us living on a much lower monthly income in retirement that I had expected and that he anticipates we will both never really stop working.  Talk about mismatched plans.  The thought of having to work until the day I die is indescribably demoralizing to me.

The whole retirement discussion felt prickly and ended in J saying showing his mean side.  Now I just want to be by myself, and it is our 20th wedding anniversary.  He later apologized, but I’m still feeling upset.  Oh well.  Life goes on.
