Another fine day of bosslessness and meetinglessness.  I need to use the time wisely, which means focusing and getting things done.  I’m also going to continue practicing patience.  There should be plenty of opportunities to work on that!

I did something strange to my foot when hiking yesterday and should probably take it easy today.

SL’s FTF, Wed 30th April

I don’t have much to say today either. Head down and get on with it…

  • coffee,bacon and egg
  • crack on with VAT return
  • leave 5.00ish? not sure
  • meet AM
  • food shopping
  • call old tutor J who left a message on my phone last night – argh! thought she had realised I was out of action at weekends for a while but apparently not
  • early night, need my sleep at the moment

Moosie Wednesday 30 April

Sometimes I’m not entirely sure what to write here as I do these posts quite early in the morning when I still feel like shit! I know I’ll feel better once I get going but I can be quite a stresshead first thing. Just shut up and make the list already!

Ftf:
* morning lists & routines
* writing
* swim
* breakfast

Work:
* invoices
* bank recs
* depreciation
* continue with budget prep
* book some days off?
* lunch with s?
* pick up jeans
* work late again – that worked quite well yesterday and gives me an afternoon off next week!

Tonight:
* finish editing song
* dinner
* song practice
* sleep!

Yesterday morning, I awoke to several inches of snow on the ground and a lot more falling.  Good thing I haven’t yet taken the snow tires off my car.  It seems as if that’s over for the week, which is fine with me.

Most of the university’s IT training classes take place in the building where I work.  Yesterday, I ran into my old boss, who was in the building for a class.  That was interesting.  I harbor some resentment toward him, because he treated me badly.  He looked frail and told me he had been through a neurological problem that took away his ability to speak for nine months.  For some reason, this exchange softened my feelings about him.

Aside from all the tasks that I must do, my focus is on patience.  Becoming a more patient person would relieve a lot of stress from my life.

SL’s FTF, Tues 29th April

Had a great night last night with the boys, which was very good for morale, and there are some exciting future plans that may come to fruition…

Just realised the tube strike means it’s going to be difficult to get to/from book group, which was supposed to be this evening. Grrrr. Fecking tube drivers. Still, my friend AM (the one with the sprogs) popped up yesterday so I may be seeing her tomorrow evening which will be nice.

  • coffee, bacon and eggs
  • crack on with accounts as couldn’t post things on system yesterday due to D being logged in as me
  • sub co board meeting, such fun
  • continue accounts
  • leave soon after 5.00
  • clear up carnage
  • call Mum
  • some home admin to catch up on
  • catch up on Mammon?

Moosie 29 April

How is everyone? Had a pretty busy weekend but some good down-time too. I had a lie-in yesterday and went running in the evening for the first time – that was a nice way to release stress at the end of the long weekend. Friday’s gig went well and I’m making progress with the latest swathe of recording, but my plans to gig again tomorrow have been scuppered by yet another tube strike, so that’s annoying!

Ftf:
* lists & routines
* say goodbye to B – won’t see him now ’til Thursday as our work schedules overlap
* writing
* swim
* breakfast

Work: planning to put in a couple of longer days as B is doing nights and travel during normal times is going to be a pain – not sure what I will be doing with myself though!
* invoices
* audit
* check budget stuff?
* not sure what else
* sort out own plans and schedules etc.
* birthday presents
* find someone to have lunch with?

Tonight:
* warmups
* bit of regular song practice
* dinner
* editing
* get to bed!

A very unexpected thing happened on Friday.  Last Wednesday was Administrative Professionals Day.  I always arrange for our two secretaries to receive flowers, and that’s that.  On Friday, I looked up from my work to see my boss and our whole team gathered around, and my boss handed me a gift, which was a large, decorative storage tote filled with lots of small gifts.  The group had got together this surprise for me for Admin. Prof. Day, and there was also a nice card signed by all.  This was completely unexpected and very touching, especially since I generally feel unappreciated at my work.  Now I feel guilty for looking for another job, but I told myself I would proceed with the plan regardless of emotional ups and downs.

The weather turned cold and wet for the weekend, but it was nice.  The dogs and I enjoyed two lovely, long, wet and muddy hikes, I made a huge pot of chili that should last all week, and I did a lot of reading.  J and I also started on a massive house cleaning project.  I’d like to get the entire house decluttered and fairly well cleaned, and then I’d like to find a cleaning service to come in twice a month and keep things in order.  The problem I haven’t sorted out is what to do with the dogs when there is someone in the house.

This is the first day of an entire week of glorious bosslessness and meetinglessness.  I’m hoping my to-do list will be much, much smaller by Friday.
