8/30/13 ftf, wren

Hooray for Friday!  It’s a three-day holiday weekend coming up, so I am very happy for that.  This long weekend is the time when two big festivals descend on our small town – the world’s largest herding dog trial and “Swiss Day,” a time when hoards of tourists crowd into a tiny town square to buy cheesy artisan wares and high-fat Swiss foods.  I shall avoid this at all costs.

My work queue exploded yesterday, so today’s goal is to stay focused and get the list back to a manageable size.  Paws crossed that my boss will be busy doing other things & so will leave me be.

I was surprised to hear that Parliament voted against military action in Syria.  It sounds as it the vote was close.  It’s so hard to know what to do.  I feel so bad for the people living in the war zone.

SL’s FTF, Friday 30th August

Yesterday was interesting. I went to see the hospital’s new whizzy procurement woman who turned out to be a kick-ass Aussie despite her Danish name. She and I are meeting the photocopier people today – the ones who have behaved in a very shabby manner – and she told me “it’s going to be uncomfortable”. Am quite nervous but also excited as I hate the photocopier guy so much and am looking forward to seeing her trampling all over him.

Then just as I was about to leave work last night I got the dreaded message from HMRC that we’re going to have a VAT inspection in November. So that’s something to look forward to! In some ways it’s a relief, as I knew it would be coming at some stage, and hopefully we can get their view on VAT problems 3-10 and then I can get it sorted out and stop worrying about the whole thing.

Tomorrow am meeting up with my family and we’re going on a boat trip to Greenwich. We were supposed to be taking a steam train to Weymouth to celebrate Dad’s 70th but it was cancelled a couple of weeks ago so this is instead.

  • ironing
  • prep lunch
  • coffee
  • work on sub co stuff part 1
  • photocopier meeting, argh!
  • work on sub co stuff part 2
  • checking
  • filing
  • leave at 6.00

  • DVD – have that thing with Rooney Mara in it which am looking forward to seeing

Moosie Friday 30 August

Has anyone got any goals for September?!

I don’t think my successful thinking experiment got very far yesterday! I’m not sure I was thinking very much at all really! Apparently more random members of B’s extended family might be descending on us this weekend. Of course nothing is arranged yet though. That made my day as I’m sure you can imagine, loving last minute unclear plans as I do.

Anyway there is no reason today shouldn’t be successful! I have all my tasks set out and all my food prepared, so just need to get on with it!

Ftf:
* wake up in a really great mood!
(!!)
* usual morning stuff
* try to buy into successful attitude on the train!
* SWIM

work:
* must do bank recons
* get invoices on ahead of Tuesday which is looking dire
* look through depreciation stuff for Tuesday also
* next chunk of study stuff
* meeting at 3 – this is a follow-up meeting to Wednesday’s which is good news and surprisingly quick meeting-turnover for my boss!
* bits of shopping at lunch
* LEAVE as early and subtly as possible!

Tonight:
* food shop
* hoovering and ironing at least
* possibly also rest of bathroom and kitchen
* vocal warmups
* song practice with clicks
* piano would be nice
* make sure to get to bed early

Am definitely in need of an attitude adjustment at work but am not sure how to make that happen…Lots of meeting today, too, and I am dreading them.  If only Moosie’s book,  How to Think for Success, was already available!

SL’s FTF, Thurs 29th August

Fourth walk in a row today, very happy about this, and the weather forecast is good for the forseeable future too.

Watched Bake-off last night – think I want Kimberley to win at the moment and felt she was robbed of star baker! But the one who got kicked out, seriously couldn’t she take a hint that her “showstopper” needed to be more interesting than that? FFS. Easy decision for them this week.

Work seems very quiet at the moment. I’m trying to solve 2 annoying problems a day and do filing the rest of the time. Today, a meeting with the new procurement woman with the Danish name, to try to sort out the photocopier debacle. Argh!

  • walk
  • coffee
  • sort out club agenda
  • work on report from R
  • meet PL
  • letter to Barry
  • more filing
  • leave at 6.00
  • food shopping
  • small amount of carnage-clearance
  • ironing for tomorrow
  • dinner with G

Moosie Thursday 29 August

Yesterday actually turned out really well! I am trying to approach things with an attitude of Success! -and it might be coincidence but things did seem to go my way overall. We had one particularly massive breakthrough at work and were granted permission by the big boss to abolish one system that’s been one of my bugbears since I started working there, which means we can now more ahead with the sexy online system for expenses, so it finally feels like we’re moving out of the dark ages!

Ftf:
* morning routines & exercises
* writing
* more writing on the train if it’s quiet
* SWIM
* songs on the way to work

Work:
* do numbers from yesterday
* boring training
* any other project stuff
* study
* escape for lunch
* definitely leave at 4.30 – my plan was foiled yesterday by someone getting me to do their dirty work at the last minute and then the trains were all snarled up.

Tonight:
* vocal warmups
* cleaning
* put B on chef duties!
* hopefully an hour for songs
