This will be a Day of Many Meetings…not quite a wall of meetings, because there are short meetingless periods sprinkled throughout the day (too short to accomplish much).  I’m trying to keep a positive outlook throughout.

We’re in the midst of a really hot period, with highs each day around 35/35C.  It feels kind of good, but J isn’t enjoying it much.  I hope to still get him out for some new hiking adventures this weekend.

SL’s FTF, Friday 28th June

The exhibition I went to last night was fascinating, am glad I went. There was one particular exhibit which was loads of little action figures made out of rubbish ties, apparently. There were hundreds of them in various colours and they sparkled like jewels. Quite amazing. I can’t figure out how to insert photos but the link is here.http://www.wellcomecollection.org/whats-on/exhibitions/souzou/image-galleries/making.aspx?view=souzou-katsube The photo is a close up – these things are about an inch high.

Am so glad it’s Friday – this week has been dragging which is weird as I have a lot to do not least deal with auditors. They’ll be gone soon!

Today’s mission is to go to the dental hygienist before work to get my gnashers cleaned. The dentist told me to get this done 4 times a year but I think 3 should be plenty. Thought it best not to have breakfast beforehand so am pre-coffee, argh!

  • glass of water
  • prep lunch
  • dental hygienist
  • coffee!
  • work
  • food shopping
  • come home and collapse!

Yesterday started quietly enough, and then it exploded!  It looks like we’re going to have to implement a bunch of new staffing changes.  Fortunately, we’ve been able to find other positions for everyone, and I’m hoping we will have a stronger organization in the long run.  Now I have so many things to do.  My plan is to focus, focus, focus and power through as many things on my list as possible.

SL’s FTF, Thurs 27th June

Quiet here…

Another early morning walk done, although the pedometer must have stopped half way through as is showing far fewer steps than usual, grrrr! I think it’s morally acceptable to count the normal number for walking challenge purposes.

This evening I’m planning to pop in to the Wellcome Collection after work and have a look at the Japanese Outsider Art exhibition – it ends this weekend and have been meaning to go. I heard something about it on the radio and its art by people who aren’t artists, sometimes have learning disabilities etc. I’m hoping it will be more like the lovely Mexican Votive Paintings and less like the sometimes gruesome / disturbing medical-related exhibitions they sometimes show.

  • walk
  • prep lunch
  • coffee
  • audit continues
  • continue with notes to the accounts
  • anything else I have time for
  • exhibition
  • make chocolate sauce stuff
  • continue reading John Le Carre book

I’ve been stressing at work because of an employee’s difficult behavior.  Today her line supervisor returns from vacation, so I’ll speak with him about it.  I hope he has a good idea for dealing with this situation, because I don’t relish the idea of a confrontration.

SL’s FTF, Wed 26th June

I was supposed to be doing my intermittent visit to J in Oxford this weekend, but she’s decided to postpone it due to her broken elbow. So, a reprieve for a few weeks and am quite happy about it as G is back on Sat and now we can go for a mega walk and fish and chips on Sunday 🙂

Managed to get up early again today so feeling on track at the moment.

  • walk
  • prep delicious packed lunch
  • coffee
  • crack on with Word document
  • ironing
  • Apprentice
  • continue reading new John Le Carre

A friend of our passed away yesterday after a long fight with cancer.  I feel so bad for his wife.  Things like this really put life into perspective.

The Other Place was totally down yesterday.  It seems to be up and running now.

J is getting ready to submit an application for a job in our dream town.  I would not be sad to let go of this job and take on something with less worries.
