I didn’t get as much accomplished as I would have liked yesterday, due to unexpected hectic office stuff and a few very long drop-in discussions, but that’s okay because my list is fairly short.  There are meetings scheduled for today, so I can’t expect too much productivity.  Note how I do not include meeting attendance as productivity…!

Moosie Good Friday 29 March

A 4-day weekend! hurrah! loads to do though! Yesterday I worked for 10 hours (which like never happens) and found it quite hard saying goodbye to the guy who left. We’ve been a bit of a double-act exchanging (well-meaning and affectionate) abuse over the past six months or so, along with occasional singing and dancing, always lots of laughs and we tried to keep it going right to the end but it was still strangely emotional. Still, this is the stuff we live for! It’s good to be able to make such strong friendships at work (probably the only good thing about it actually, ha!)

Today I really have to get as much done as I can – fortunately not feeling as wiped out as I thought I would be so yay! full steam ahead!

  • start off with an hour of writing time – going to try and do this every day this week because I really need to sort out my 2Q stuff!
  • As much music as possible
  • As much laundry as possible! Not done any all week!
  • Cleaning
  • Hopefully some blog updates
  • I have a couple of things to prepare for tomorrow
  • Exercise!

Wow!  I have gotten so much done this week!  I am amazed at how short my list is looking.  I even had time to organize some of my files yesterday.  My big goal today is to keep up the good work!

I did a great workout this morning.  It combines pilates and strength training and is surprisingly difficult but also fun.   I didn’t expect it to have much cardio effect, but my heart rate was definitely elevated.  I followed that up with 20 minutes of intervals on the elliptical, where I could really get my heart soaring.

Paws are crossed that my boss will be busy with other things today so that I continue with my Streak of Accomplishments.

Project Runway!

Moosie Thursday 28 March

Yesterday I forgot to add that it was 2 months to my birthday which I think is signal for some gratuitous swearing! Please swear today in lieu.

The March Madness at work continues – plenty got done yesterday including a lot of the most fiddly things so I am feeling a bit more relaxed now. Today I will just have to stay until everything is done! So more incentive to get a move on.

Today is also a sad day at work as we are losing one particularly beloved member of staff (whose boss basically sacked him because he went for an interview somewhere else!!!) so there will undoubtedly be some last-day shennanigans and emotions will be running high!!

Already done:

  • Morning writing
  • Kanji practice
  • SWIM
  • Walk to work

WORK:

  • Sort fiddly stuff with the rather hunky M
  • Sort fiddly stuff with C
  • Internationals! yet again!
  • Get all the invoices on
  • Pay them if possible
  • Make list of final invoices still to come next week
  • Fire drill at 11! argh. Well timed.
  • Oh and reconcile bank accounts in three different currencies…

THEN I can go home!

Me @ work:

  • FTF
  • WOC
  • Blog – I haven’t done anything on 1Q/2Q goals yet and it’s all sitting rotting in my mind! I’m sure I would feel better if I did this
  • F9 throughout the day
  • Need to pop to the shops and also find something nice for lunch… sushi? Pie?!

Tonight:

  • If I get home at a reasonable hour try to do as much music as possible and as much of the regular list as possible
  • If not then go home, eat, collapse, whatever!

SL’s FTF, Thurs 28th March

Last day at work this week, hurrah! I have a team meeting this morning and have bought them all Easter eggs in a spirit of bribery and corruption, I mean gratitude and appreciation. I thought of doing it the other day and it’s a small gesture but seems like a nice way to end the financial year.

Then 4 days off hurrah!

  • ironing
  • prep delicious lunch (bacon & avo salad with red pepper, mushroom and sundried tomato)
  • coffee
  • plan year end timetable
  • finance team meeting to run through year end timetable
  • reply to Vampire Man
  • circulate club budget
  • other stuff on list for today = year end things
  • Sage prac? not sure I have the appetite today
  • more filing
  • water plants
  • poss have short lunch break and leave 5.30
  • Selfridges for nice food
  • dinner with G

Yesterday ended up being a lovely day at work.  I accomplished things without feeling pressured, got outside for a nice mid-day walk to the post office (rather than buying stamps online), and finished two contracts.  Today, my plan is to keep chipping away at my to-do list, with the ultimate goal of Having Things in Order before we leave for Paris.

I heard an interesting idea on NPR this morning – roommates for retirees.  It was presented as a cost-saving measure, but I can see how it would be beneficial in so many ways.  Not that I am all that near to retirement…

I wonder if the Supreme Court will make any decisions on gay marriage today?  It feels like it could be an historic moment in time.

Moosie Wednesday 27 March

Suffice it to say I did not get everything done yesterday!! The casualties were the JP letter, part of the music time, any kind of creativity and part of the F9 I was hoping to get through BUT I did just about manage everything else AND remembered to lie on the floor when I get home (or more accurately, lie on Madam Ish’s Quilt of Amazingness which was a far superior experience!) and I’m sure tha helped, although I’m bloody knackered!

Today is my “fallow” day in between yesterday’s mess and tomorrow’s expected chaos! I can pace myself slightly more evenly but the most important thing is to pay attention to the details, get things RIGHT and clear everything random so I can go back to being a lean mean invoice-processing machine tomorrow! I find these days at work so draining! It’s so different to how it was before! I can’t wait to get my easy life back 😉 Yesterday’s meeting with my boss which I thought was going to be a reasonably worthwhile ten minutes assessing where we’re at with closing for the year-end turned out to be some random reassessment of appraisal objectives – like seriously, that couldn’t have waited another two weeks?! – which would be a nice gesture at any time but does suggest that he’s unaware of our actual working priorities at the moment! He seems to be going out of his way to appease me but yet still manages to wind me up – I think it’s because he reminds me of my dad?! and brings out the disobedient child in me! I am unsure yet how to effectively wield this power (bwah ha ha) ANYWAY.

Already done:

  • Morning writing
  • Russian
  • start kanji practice
  • SWIM
  • Walk to work

WORK:

  • Reply to complex e-mail
  • Set of complex payments + reconcile
  • Set of simple payments (yay)
  • Procedure stuff
  • Invoice entry (get the fiddly stuff done)
  • Invoice chasing/vendor checks
  • We have a farewell lunch for K (sob)

ME @ WORK:

  • FTF!
  • WOC
  • Blog post / wrap up some stuff from 1Q
  • 2Q plans ffs.
  • F9 also ffs. I am in the middle of an incredibly dull chapter but it’s mostly theory so should go quite quickly, if I can fit in little bits of time throughout the day. If I can get through that I will have broken the back of the textbook.
  • JP letter
  • Again, leave at 4.30 at the latest!

Tonight: I’m torn between the cycling technique and just shutting myself in the studio to play some songs, we’ll see!

  • Lie on the quilt for 5 minutes and stare at the ceiling!
  • Normal list of tiny nano-chores
  • Vocal warm-ups
  • Piano
  • Songwriting
  • New songs
  • Gig songs
  • Recording practice
  • cleaning! Bathroom!
  • JP letter
  • finish kanji
  • creative stuff
