I am so frustrated at work.  We are projected to have an $800,000 deficit by the end of the fiscal year if things don’t change.  Yet all my recommendations to cut spending fall on deaf ears.  I am tired of people treating me like the bad guy every time I deliver the news that we don’t have money for this thing or that.  They treat me like the bad guy, and then they go ahead & spend the money anyway.  Urgh.  J asked me a question last night, and I’m not sure of the answer.  He asked, “Is it my job to control the finances, or is it my job to make recommendations regarding finances & then do what the boss says to do?”  I need to investigate this more and get a clear answer.

Oh well, I am happy that I can resume hiking after work.  And Joseph will be home in a few days.  He sounds ready to come back.

Moosie Tuesday 31 July

Morning all! Had another fun-packed weekend (that’s two in a row!) seeing friends yesterday and Saturday – both quite chilled out but yesterday was a bit of an adventure, with a walk in the woods, excellent picnic and some super-bargainous shopping!

Back to work today and it’s very dark and grey outside and feeling distinctly autumnal! I’m feeling quite contemplative but I suppose that’s because it’s the end of the month already!

* kettlebell!

Cate’s FTF Tue 31st July

Really great day yesterday can’t believe I got those two things done after months of putting them off, feels euphoric to have it out the way!
– Yoga – done

– 10 Grats and BD – done

– Post F and email / prep gallery email later

– Aug Cards

– 1st Edit CA job

– Evening with the problem friends who are being problematic about where to meet and when and as always it’s to suit one particular person and I am always, always the bloody chauffeur to another particular person. However I just want to tell them some news to their faces and then hopefully I don’t plan to see them again til Christmas!!

SL’s FTF, Tues 31st July

My Olympic flexitime starts today but I knew it was going to be wet this morning so I had a lie-in instead of going for a walk 😀

It will be interesting to see how this experiment goes – am pretty sure I’ll be more productive because I’m happier getting up later (or getting up at the same time and going for a walk) and am sure I’ll get far more done in the office between 5 and 6 in the evening than between 9 and 10 in the morning.

We were able to watch a spot of diving yesterday on the giant TV screen that has appeared in one of our meeting rooms, but it was rather disappointing as was the swimming last night. I wonder what it’s like to belong to a nation that wins loads of medals?

It was a strange weekend, with no human contact.  At first, I enjoyed have all that time and space to myself, but by Saturday evening, I was feeling pretty lonesome.  Joseph has been awesome about calling me several times a day with play-by-play descriptions of all the wedding activities.  He knows I am feeling left out and is trying to make it up to me, which I really appreciate.  He’s also been taking tons of photos.

I called a good friend of mine, who is now retired, and had the brilliant idea of inviting him to stay in our house & look after the dogs while we are in Paris.  He wants to do it, so I am quite pleased with that arrangement, assuming nothing crops up to interfere between now & April.

Who’s been watching the Olympics?  I’ve been enjoying the beach volleyball and the gymnastics.  It’s been reported that the Brits are especially fond of the rowing events…is that right?

SL’s FTF, Mon 30th July

My lovely week off is over and it’s back to porridge, as granny used to say. Although perhaps not, as porridge might be a bit hot in this weather – summer has arrived at last!

I’ve done a great job of not worrying about work during my week off 😉 but am aware I have a lot to do over the next 5 weeks until my next week off. So today it will be head down and nose to the grindstone… but only after the office has had a full discussion about the opening ceremony the other night!

For the next 2 weeks we have limited flexitime and I’m planning to work 10-6 as opposed to my usual 9-6 (supposedly 9-5) but chief will probably have forgotten all about it, so I’m going in at the normal time today and will start the new regime tomorrow. The main thing will be to get up early and go for a walk, instead of lazing about in bed till 8.30…
