Thanks to everyone for all of the encouragement.  Things are looking up today.  🙂

Of course, I am over the moon at the US Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Health Care Act.  I’d rather have socialized medicine, but, as Bill Clinton said, that is too big of a leap for the American people.

Fires are burning all over our state.  Our little valley was filled with smoke from a fire last night.  Thank goodness some governing officials have recognized that fireworks should be banned when the fire danger is so extreme, but the way they’ve gone about it is a bit idiotic.  The state governor has banned fireworks in the state, that is in areas that are  a part of the state but not a part of any particular town or city.  Any fireworks bans within city limits will be decided by the local government.  So far my town isn’t addressing the issue.  Ack!  Why won’t the whole world just do things my way?  🙂

I just discovered that the soup I’ve been eating every day for lunch, Progresso Light soups, comes in a can that contains some hideous chemical that causes, among other things, weight gain.  Joseph has been kind enough to make me some homemade soup so that I can avoid that hideous toxin.

And finally, the dreaded Friday morning meeting has been canceled today.  That is reason enough to celebrate!

SL’s FTF, Fri 29th June

Am I late? Everyone seems to have got in before me! 😉

No walk this morning – stayed up too late reading the New Yorker which I love but its articles can be quite long so my plan to turn out the light at 10.30 didn’t quite work…

Today is the last day of the on-site audit and I did finally get the Word document finished yesterday so was pleased about that. G’s away this weekend so I have a quietish one lined up but am meeting ACC for a trip to Maltby Street Market tomorrow morning – it’s the new Borough don’t you know! Apparently there’s a shop selling vieux Gruyere which I’m particularly keen to visit.

  • coffee
  • kettlebell x 25
  • chat with team
  • check BACS run
  • show B how to check Gift Aid
  • crack on with salary accruals
  • sushi and strawberries for lunch 😀
  • if time, make a start on VAT return
  • hopefully the auditors will leave at 5.00 today so I won’t have to hang around!
  • maybe go for a walk? see how the weather is
  • tennis? am disappointed that Nadal is out 😦 although I guess the other guy must have played very well so good for him
  • watch Bridesmaids on DVD as didn’t get round to it the other night, but am encouraged by everyone’s favourable comments!

Moosie Friday, 29 June

Went to bed at 7.30pm last night and slept brilliantly with a break in the middle to hang up the laundry! It’s amazing what a relief it is to get a decent night’s sleep! And now it’s Friday – last working day of the month and a good day to get things wrapped up.

* stretches done
* writing done
* shopping list

Work:
* catch up with k
* kanji: make a head start on this first thing. If I can test 100 an hour I can finish them today!
* writing – sort head out before eating!
* work work: bank recon, finish and pay final expenses, get invoices on
* lunch with the girls: it was meant to be pie friday but after fish and chips last week and curry next week we’re just going for grilled sandwiches instead!
* leave on time!!

Tonight:
* food shopping (or get b to do it if he finishes first!)
* parents are coming tomorrow so need to do final cleaning;
* tidy up
* clean coffee table
* Hoover
* swipe bathroom
* swipe & steam hard floors

* relax and watch tennis!!!

Yes, it’s Friday! 😀

It’s still verrrrry hot, and the weekend will be even hotter, so we’re planning to get out of the concrete & asphalt jungle.  But before that:

  • work
  • reply T, 3M
  • SA
  • lunch @ MIL’s
  • Roomba
  • laundry
  • decide where to go for the weekend
  • if necessary, help N prep the motorbike (although we’ll probably be lazy and just take the car)

Have a dancing weekend! 😉

Well, I have been in a bit of a funk since yesterday, and I hope no one minds if I pour some of it out here.  So fair warning – stop reading now if you want to avoid a big moan.

The tipping point was that yesterday afternoon, just as I was finishing a very detailed budget analysis of a contract we might take on at work, the Hyper-Controlling Woman Who Does a Good Job but Drive Me Crazy took it upon herself to e-mail her own budget analysis, which she threw together, out to everyone on the team.  This is very clearly not her job and is very clearly my job, but she did it anyway and then added the statement “that’s just my opinion” to the end of the e-mail, as if to undo what she had actually just done.  I think I should be a bigger person than to be distraught by this, but I am not.

Driving in to work, I felt bummed out by the Willpower Book.  I’ve been enjoying the book quite a lot, but then it came to the part where the authors talk about the futility of dieting.  Since I am struggling daily with minimal weight loss despite a carefully-monitored eating plan and lots of exercise, this made me feel like throwing in the towel.  I wonder if what I heard was really what the authors were saying, or if I filtered the message in a negative way.

And last but not least, I am feeling rather bummed that my sister-in-law has thrown together a wedding with about six weeks’ notice, and it seems as if all of Joseph’s family will be attending except me.  I hate that left out feeling.  But realistically, I just took three weeks off from work, don’t really have the money to spare to travel across the continent again, and don’t have anyone to look after our dogs.  Ultimately, I’m gearing up to use the week when Joseph is away to pamper myself, but at the moment the disappointed feelings are stronger.

Ahh.  Now that all of that is out, I’ll get on with the day.  The number one priority is self care.  I plan to move through the day gently and look after my physical and emotional needs.
