Yesterday I was dragging all day.  What a difference a good night’s sleep makes!

This morning, I wrote out a list of Christmas gifts for Joseph, and took it downstairs, intending to take it with me to work so I could add it to my phone.  I kept telling myself, “I must be sure to take this with me.  Don’t want it laying around for prying eyes to find.”  And would you believe, I did just that…left it right on the kitchen counter.  Eep!

Top Chef!

SL’s FTF, Wed 30th Nov

Last day of November already!

Yesterday went better than expected – the difficult conversation went ok, in fact I came away feeling glad we had it, it cleared the air. That’s a great weight off my mind and today I feel much more positive about going into work! Although there may be picket lines, apparently, as it’s a general strike here today and some of the NHS workers may be on strike.

This evening am meeting my parents, who are coming down to see the Ladykillers this afternoon. Will be able to show Mum my new kitchen cabinet door and see what she thinks – it arrived with perfect timing yesterday.

  • coffee
  • work – help L with thing, get B doing STL rec, get on top of all the other gubbins
  • rush home and do final cleaning
  • meet Mum and Dad
  • quiet things + catch up on emails/messages

Moosie Wednesday 30 November

Great sleep last night, cold totally knocked me out! Just about got enough time to slurp down a cup of tea and make a list…!

  • send docs to B
  • writing / lists
  • plans for December/blog post
  • Work: payments
  • Today’s major task: detailed review of translations
  • Do backup translation if necessary
  • More writing
  • More kanji
  • Christmas present list!

Tonight:

  • Cleaning must-dos: sort laundry and hoover
  • piano practice
  • possibly start going through videos?
  • possibly look at sewing patterns?
  • Send translations! ekk

Silvie 29 November

Well I DID manage to do some marking yesterday and have done another one today, and started a third, so am getting there slowly.

DH had a board meeting today so I have been on dogs, Blanche seems to need a constant supply of food at the moment, and plenty of chances to potter outside to relieve herself.  So having to give her loads of (well deserved) attention.

There is definitely a storm brewing up out there. IIt;s time to take the guys and gals out again now before it gets officially dark, but it is already very very grey and dull, wet and windy, and I am not looking forward to it much.  But I have to remind myself there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothes and I have all the stuff to get togged up in waterproofs and wellies and once out there it is not so bad.

Last rehearsal tonight before our ‘Winter Prom’ concert on Sunday.  I have to get some cheques signed, and other admin too, so lots to remember.  I’m sure some of the pieces I haven’t rehearsed so will be a case of sight reading on the night.  Scary.  Had a figure from the builder for the conservatory so need to discuss with DH if we are going to sanction it and give him the go ahead.  If so we are back to building site – not relishing that with pups around, will have to keep them well separate from the hassle.

Had a brill idea for Christmas for Sam – a collection of various E strings to try for his violin.  Es are notorious in that they can be squeaky and too  bright, and best avoided played open (except for specific strident effect), so finding a nice tone seems like the holy grail.  I’m sure he will enjoy experimenting with them.

So that’s one down…several more to go!!

My destop weather gizmo is warning me to expect 70 mph (113 kph) wind gusts over the next few days.  Yikes!  This makes me wish we had waited to put up our Christmas decorations!   Here’s hoping the weather report is wrong.

Moosie Tuesday 29 November

Weekend was going pretty well until I ran out of steam at about 5pm yesterday and spent a good few hours on the sofa watching movies and then wasn’t quite tired enough to sleep at night. But I did make it outdoors twice each day so I’m pleased with that – just about keeping things on an even keel.

Lots of things I *can* do today but may not get to everything as am feeling pretty vacant this morning…

* writing, lists, sort head out
* cc has cleared so finish conpiling Christmas present list
* detailed translation checks… Keep ahead
* mass blogging
* vocab & kanji practice
* attempt to buy backup Internet dongle

Tonight:
* cleaning: wash up and empty bins, general tidying until 6.30
* 1/2hour piano at least
* blogs etc.

Think that’ll be about it for today!

Vex 29.11.2011

Heh, today’s date used to be the biggest national holiday in ex-Yugoslavia, “the birthday of the country”. 20 years later and this is still the first thing I think of when I see the date.

(OMG 20 years? I’m officially an old fart.)

  • work work work (yay, no meetings today!)
  • call mechanic
  • coordinate car logistics with N
  • standard after-work routine: cook, eat, meditation/nap, clean/declutter
  • I’m obviously not in the decluttering mood, so no use putting “declutter paperwork for real this time” on the list again (trying reverse psych…)
  • pick up car? (fingers crossed)
  • urban homesteading 🙂 – put up chili peppers, cut up apples and hang to dry, portion and freeze cottage cheese, make turnip-celery-carrot-apple salad
  • exercise
  • standard pre-bed routine: review & plan, pack lunch, journal, shower etc.
